Ibanez GRG320FA-TKS — A Modern Superstrat with Double-Locking Stability

This Superstrat-style electric guitar is built for fast playability, tremolo action, and humbucker tone at a lower price point. A poplar body with a printed flamed maple art grain top delivers the visual flair of a higher-tier RG. A 648 mm bolt-on maple neck pairs with a double-locking tremolo and locking nut for tuning-stable dive-bombs. Finished in Transparent Black Sunburst with black hardware, this instrument sits between entry-level and mid-tier electrics in Ibanez's GIO lineup.

Standout Features

What separates this model from older GIO-series guitars is a printed flamed maple art grain top, a bound purpleheart fingerboard, and Ibanez's mono-unit output jack — a one-piece jack that resists the loosening common in cheaper guitars. The double-locking tremolo locks strings at both ends for tuning stability under heavy whammy-bar abuse.

Body Construction — Poplar Core with a Flamed Maple Art Grain Top

The body and top combination shapes both look and resonance. Poplar keeps the guitar lightweight, while the flamed maple art grain top adds visual depth without solid maple weight.

• Body Material: Poplar — light and balanced, easy on the shoulder during standing sets
• Top Material: Flamed Maple Art Grain — printed veneer mimicking figured maple at a budget price
• A high gloss polyurethane finish in Transparent Black Sunburst highlights the intricate printed grain pattern.

Neck & Fingerboard — Fast GRG Profile with a Bound Purpleheart Surface

Neck dimensions determine how the guitar feels under the hand. A wider nut and flatter radius favor modern lead playing, while the bound purpleheart fingerboard adds midrange bite with a clean aesthetic edge.

• Scale Length: 648 mm (25.5") — long scale for tight low-end and clear note definition
• Neck Profile: GRG, 19.5 mm at 1F / 21.5 mm at 12F, 43 mm nut width — chunkier than the Wizard profile, fuller grip for rhythm work
• Bound Purpleheart fingerboard with a 400 mm radius, 24 medium frets, and white sharktooth position markers — flat surface for bending and tapping

Electronics & Hardware — Infinity R Humbuckers with Double-Locking Tremolo

The pickup and bridge configuration defines the tonal palette and expressive range. Two ceramic-magnet humbuckers cover clean rhythm to high-gain lead, while the double-locking tremolo unlocks wide pitch modulation without losing tuning.

• Pickup Configuration: HH — two Ibanez Infinity R humbuckers (Passive / Ceramic) — defined, tight response that holds clarity under distortion
• Controls: 5-way pickup selector, 1 Volume, 1 Tone — splits and combined tones accessible from a single switch
• Bridge & Hardware: Double-locking tremolo with locking nut (10.5 mm string space), black die-cast tuners, mono-unit output jack, .009–.042 factory strings

Who the Ibanez GRG320FA-TKS Is Built For

This model is the right choice for beginner and intermediate players who want a Superstrat with a real double-locking tremolo at this price tier. Teachers buying a first electric for a student will appreciate the lightweight poplar body and the locking nut's tuning stability. Players moving up from a hardtail Strat-style guitar get expressive tremolo techniques without committing to a flagship RG. The visual punch of a flamed maple top, the bite of ceramic humbuckers, and a 24-fret neck round out the package.

Ibanez GIO Series — The 2024 Quality Reset

Ibanez's GIO line has long served as the entry point into the brand's RG and GRG Superstrat families, aimed at students and budget-conscious players. The 2024 refresh of the GRG320FA brought meaningful upgrades — a printed flamed maple art grain top, a bound purpleheart fingerboard, Infinity R pickups, and the mono-unit output jack borrowed from higher-tier Ibanez models — closing the gap to mid-tier RG instruments while keeping the line affordable.
