Cocteau Twins were a Scottish rock band known for their pioneering dream pop sound, created through lush guitars, atmospheric production, and the distinctive, often wordless vocals of Elizabeth Fraser. Formed in Grangemouth in 1979 by Robin Guthrie and Will Heggie, the lineup was completed with Fraser in 1981 and later Simon Raymonde in 1983. They signed to 4AD, releasing influential albums like Garlands and Treasure and scoring a UK hit with Pearly-Dewdrops' Drops. Their signature style helped shape genres like dream pop and shoegaze. After their peak in the late eighties and the acclaimed album Heaven or Las Vegas, the band eventually disbanded in 1997. Despite a brief reunion announcement in 2005, the Cocteau Twins remained one of alternative music’s most influential and enigmatic acts.
