Housed in a sleek black box with the unmistakable white woofer, the CLA-10 Passives provide the unforgiving mid-forward frequency response that highlights the most critical elements of a mix, especially vocals. Put simply: if a mix sounds great on CLA-10s, it will sound great on any speaker.

When the supply of aftermarket components for vintage white-cone speakers began to diminish, Avantone Pro stepped up to fill the void, leveraging over a decade of experience in driver construction. The result is near-identical reproductions of both drivers and the classic crossover, staying true to the original specifications while meeting modern environmental standards. These components are so accurate that Avantone Pro even offers them as aftermarket replacement parts for aging white-cone speakers.

The AV10-MHF tweeter dome underwent rigorous engineering to achieve the precise phenolic resin doping required to replicate the original's performance curve. Meanwhile, the AV10-MLF woofer features custom-tooled mechanical parts that faithfully mirror its predecessor.

By working closely with one of the original vendors, Avantone Pro ensured that the stiffness and weight of the cone match the original's behavior perfectly. The only update to the original design is the use of a pressed cone instead of a lapped one, allowing for superior matching and enabling a new era where matched pairs are readily available.

True to the classics, the CLA-10 Passives are passive-format studio monitors that require a power amplifier. A modern addition is the TPC switch, which replicates the high-frequency dampening trick often used on the original speakers — covering the tweeters with tissue paper. Activating the TPC switch reduces the tweeter's output by 2 dB.
