Mazzy Star is an American alternative rock band formed in 1988 in Santa Monica, California, emerging from the group Opal. The band is fronted by Hope Sandoval, who joined after original Opal vocalist Kendra Smith left, alongside founding member David Roback. Known for their dreamy, melancholic sound, Mazzy Star gained widespread recognition with their hit song Fade into You in the mid-1990s. Their best-known albums include She Hangs Brightly, So Tonight That I Might See, and Among My Swan. Following the deaths of Roback and founding drummer Keith Mitchell, Hope Sandoval and Suki Ewers remain as the original surviving members. The band’s later releases include Seasons of Your Day and the Still EP, the latter dedicated to lost members of their team.
