Sela SEPFT1 Flexatone
Sela SEPFT1 Flexatone
The Flexatone is a percussion instrument characterized by its unmistakable, tremulous sound. Its name is derived from the expression ‘to flex a tone’. The instrument was invented at the beginning of the 20th century and is particularly well known for its use in film music and as a sound effect. When the Flexatone is shaken, the two metal balls hit the metal sheet in the center, creating pulsating tones that can be raised or lowered by bending the sheet with the thumb. This produces a glissando-like, floating sound. The Sela Flexatone is made of a special spring steel which, with its special acoustic quality, produces a unique sound. The simple design in timeless black gives the instrument an attractive appearance.
