Sela Harmony Handpan D Amara 9+3 — Handcrafted Steel for Meditative Melodies

Built for meditative playing and expressive melody, the Sela Harmony Handpan D Amara 9+3 is a handcrafted stainless steel percussion instrument that turns rhythm into a single intuitive experience. Tuned to the popular D Amara scale at A=440 Hz, this model pairs nine top-side tone fields with three additional bottom notes for richer two-part melodies. Two hand-hammered stainless steel bowls deliver the long, clean sustain and smooth decay handpan players prize.

What Sets This Handpan Apart

Two stainless steel bowls are joined and hand-hammered into a single shell, with a central hump producing the D3 ding and eight surrounding divots each tuned to a relative pitch. The bottom of the shell carries three additional tone fields (C3, F3, G3), distinguishing the 9+3 from standard 9-note handpans. Stainless steel is weather- and humidity-resistant, requires no oiling, and produces a longer sustain than nitrided-steel alternatives.

Who Should Play This Handpan

This handpan is the right choice for beginners and experienced percussionists who want a low-maintenance steel handpan with an extended tonal range. Because every tone field sits on a fixed D Amara scale, players cannot strike a "wrong" note — ideal for first-time handpan buyers, sound therapists, yoga facilitators, and anyone exploring melodic percussion. The fast, sensitive response rewards light finger technique, while the long sustain suits slow, ambient playing.
