Amorphis is a Finnish band formed in 1990 by Jan Rechberger, Tomi Koivusaari, and Esa Holopainen. Starting with a death metal sound, the group later incorporated progressive metal, folk elements, and melodic death metal into their music. Their lyrics are often inspired by the Kalevala, Finland’s national epic.
