Donovan

Donovan Phillips Leitch, born in 1946, is a Scottish musician, songwriter, and record producer famed for his influential role in the 1960s flower power era. Emerging from the British folk scene in 1965, Donovan quickly gained recognition with hit singles like Catch the Wind, Colours, and Universal Soldier. He achieved international success with songs such as Sunshine Superman, Mellow Yellow, Hurdy Gurdy Man, and Atlantis, blending folk, pop, psychedelia, and jazz. Donovan was closely connected with leading artists of his time, including the Beatles, and influenced John Lennon's guitar style. His music featured collaborations with musicians who would later become members of Led Zeppelin. Although his popularity declined after the 1960s, Donovan continued to record and perform, experiencing a revival in the 1990s. He was inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in the 2010s.
