Johnny "Guitar" Watson (February 3, 1935 – May 17, 1996) was an American musician celebrated for his dynamic stage presence and mastery of the electric guitar. Drawing inspiration from T-Bone Walker, Watson made his mark in rhythm and blues, later embracing funk and soul. Beginning with his groundbreaking 1954 instrumental "Space Guitar," he built a versatile career through the 1950s and 1960s. Reinventing his sound in the 1970s, he found new success with hits like "Ain't That a Bitch," "Superman Lover," and "A Real Mother for Ya," blending showmanship with inventive musicianship over four decades.
