Midas M32R Live EU
The Midas M32R Live EU is a compact 19" digital mixing console built for live sound, studio recording, and broadcast. It pairs 16 Midas PRO microphone preamps with 40-bit floating-point processing and 17 motorized faders, giving touring engineers and studio producers the same headroom and clarity that defined the legendary XL4. The onboard Klark Teknik DN32-Live card delivers 32-channel USB recording and SD/SDHC multitrack capture, while dual AES50 ports expand the rig to 96 inputs through Midas DL16 stage boxes. Eight True-Stereo effect engines, 25 mix buses, and 8 DCA groups keep complex shows under control from a single rack-mountable surface.
- 16 Midas PRO preamps with phantom power for studio-grade mic clarity on every channel
- 40-bit floating-point DSP and 25 time-aligned mix buses preserve transient detail at any level
- Klark Teknik DN32-Live card enables 32-channel USB and SD/SDHC multitrack recording without a computer
- Rack-mountable 19" chassis at 14.3 kg fits standard touring racks and travels light between gigs
Midas M32R Live EU — Compact Digital Console with Touring-Grade Preamps
The Midas M32R Live EU is a rack-mountable digital mixing console for live sound, recording, and broadcast. Built around 16 Midas PRO preamps and 40-bit floating-point DSP, this compact 19" surface delivers the sonic character that has powered Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, and Metallica tours. Engineers choose it for front-of-house, monitors, and 32-channel multitrack capture.
What Sets the M32R Live EU Apart in Its Class
Unlike most compact digital desks, the M32R Live ships with the Klark Teknik DN32-Live card installed, enabling 32 channels of bidirectional USB 2.0 audio and SD/SDHC multitrack recording without a computer. Dual AES50 SuperMAC ports daisy-chain up to three DL16 stage boxes for 48 remote preamps over CAT5 cable up to 100 m.
Comprehensive I/O for Hybrid Live and Studio Workflows
The M32R Live accepts 16 XLR mic inputs plus 6 TRS aux line inputs, with 8 XLR outputs, 6 TRS aux outputs, and dedicated monitor outs covering any monitor or front-of-house topology.
- Inputs: RCA, XLR, USB, Talkback, Jack 6.3 mm, MIDI IN, Ethernet — handles mics, instruments, playback, and remote control from a single back panel
- Outputs: XLR, Jack 6.3 mm, MIDI OUT — drives main PA, monitors, and external gear in parallel
- Phantom Power — supplied to all 16 preamp channels for condenser microphones without external supply
40-Bit Floating-Point DSP with Onboard Studio Effects
Every audio path on the M32R Live runs through 40-bit floating-point converters, preserving headroom through heavy compression. Eight True-Stereo effect engines deliver studio-grade reverbs, delays, modulation, and dynamics.
- Internal Effects: Chorus, Reverb, Flanger, Delay — vocal polish, drum ambience, and guitar modulation from the console itself
- Effect Engines — eight True-Stereo / sixteen Mono slots run dedicated returns alongside the channel strip without taxing the DSP
- Signal Processing: 40-bit floating point — preserves headroom through heavy compression chains
Rack-Mountable Control Surface with Motorized Precision
The M32R Live fits a 19" rack at 478 × 617 × 208 mm and weighs 14.3 kg. Seventeen Midas PRO motor faders recall scene positions automatically, while 8 DCA groups and 6 mute groups let a single operator manage a full band mix.
- Faders: 17 Midas PRO motor faders — motorized recall matches fader positions to saved scenes in seconds
- Mix Buses — 25 time-aligned and phase-coherent buses support complex monitor sends and matrix routing without phase cancellation
- Rackmountable: Yes (19") — installs in standard touring racks alongside stage boxes and wireless systems
Built for Touring Engineers, Worship-Tech Teams, and Project Studios
The Midas M32R Live EU is the right choice for live-sound engineers running 8- to 16-piece bands, churches handling weekly services, and project-studio owners who want one console to cover tracking and mixing. Its 16 Midas PRO preamps and 40-bit DSP deliver the same front-end quality that has appeared on Midas XL4 and Heritage-D consoles.
Midas — From Pink Floyd Consoles to the Compact M32R
Midas was founded in London in 1970 and built its reputation on custom touring consoles for Pink Floyd and Frank Zappa's 1980 world tour. The XL4 flagship became the industry-standard analog live desk, touring with Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Metallica, and the Rolling Stones. After Music Tribe acquired Midas in 2009, the Manchester team translated that analog heritage into the digital M32 family, of which the M32R Live is the rack-mountable compact member.
