As part of their manufacturing process, the halves are painstakingly hammered by hand. This creates dents and a small mound in the middle of the body. These surfaces form the different sound fields. The central note lies in the middle of the handpan, surrounded by a circle with 8 notes. If the fields are played, bright, long-lasting sounds are created.
