Supermax

Supermax

Supermax was a music project led by Austrian musician and producer Kurt Hauenstein, who gained international recognition with hits like "It Ain't Easy" and "Lovemachine." Founded in the late 1970s, the group included key members such as Hans Ochs on guitar, Lothar Krell on keyboards, Peter Koch on percussion, Jürgen Zöller on drums, and vocalists Cee Cee Cobb and Jean Graham. Over the years, Supermax’s lineup evolved, with Hauenstein’s daughter Jessica and Bernadet Onore Eben joining as backing singers, and Raimund Bretterbauer taking on sound engineering and co-production from 2006. Supermax made history in 1981 as the first mixed-race band to tour South Africa, an act which led to international controversy and blacklisting by some political organizations. In 1983, they performed as a European special guest at the Reggae Sunsplash Festival in Jamaica. Supermax is remembered for their genre-blending style, bold performances, and impact on European and international music scenes.
