Underoath

Underoath

Underoath is an American rock band formed in 1997 in Ocala, Florida by Dallas Taylor and Luke Morton, with members later based in Tampa. The band is currently made up of Aaron Gillespie, Christopher Dudley, Timothy McTague, Grant Brandell, and Spencer Chamberlain. Known for their dynamic blend of post-hardcore and alternative rock, Underoath initially identified as a Christian band but has since moved away from that label. After several early lineup changes and three albums with Taylor, Chamberlain took over as lead vocalist in 2003, solidifying the group's core lineup. Underoath achieved mainstream success with their gold-certified albums "They're Only Chasing Safety" and "Define the Great Line," the latter reaching number two on the Billboard 200. Following further lineup changes and a brief split in 2013, the band reunited in 2015 and released new music including "Erase Me" in 2018, which marked a shift from their earlier religious themes. Their more recent releases include "Voyeurist" in 2022 and "The Place After This One" in 2025. Underoath is celebrated for their energetic sound, emotional intensity, and evolution within the modern rock scene.
